The Product Design Department was founded in 1995, followed by the first Graduate Program of Design Management in Taiwan in 1999. In 2010, the department and the graduate program were integrated as one academic unit. Most of our graduates can apply what they have learned and have outstanding performance in the field of product design. There are 12 full-time and 26 part-time faculty members in the department. All of them have overseas study or work experience and abundant practical experience.Their performance in research includes published journal articles and theses, papers presented at symposia, other publications and being awarded Ministry of Science and Technology projects. Each year, the Product Design Department recruits two class cohorts of undergraduate students, totaling 120, 13 students for the graduate program, and 10 students for the work-experience graduate program. The Product Design Department is well equipped with machines and facilities for metal work, wood work, ceramic work, welding, surface, and treatment. There are CNC, RP, and Freeform modeling systems in the CAD/ CAM laboratory. The transportation design lab, human factor and interaction design lab, computer lab, and studios for graduation project design are also made available for hands-on workshops. Students are encouraged to actively participate in various competitions via abundant information promoted throughout the department. Spectacular results were achieved in the past and can be expected in the future.
